AMY PIRTLE is a performer and teacher currently based in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is currently pursuing her DMA at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music studying with Dr. William Grubb. She previously received her BM at the University of Iowa studying with Hannah Holman and her MM at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying with Merry Peckham of the Cavani String Quartet.

Performing extensively, Amy has won chamber music awards in Ohio and several solo awards throughout Illinois and Iowa. Originally from Burlington, Iowa, she has performed and won grand prizes at competitions with the Southeast Iowa Symphony and the Des Moines Symphony. She has worked with several renowned musicians from around the world, including members of the Cleveland String Quartet, Quatuor Ebène, and the Juilliard String Quartet, along with members of the Chicago Symphony, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Houston Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra.

As an avid chamber musician and teacher, Amy taught at Interlochen Arts Camp during the summer of 2013 as the cellist of the Bird String Quartet. She has participated in several summer music festivals: Aspen Music Festival, Mimir Chamber Music Festival, and the Great Wall International Music Festival in China.

Amy also loves cooking, reading, and traveling as much as possible; favorite spots include London and Cape Town.
