Mrs. Amber C. Knowland
Violin Teacher
I began my journey on violin at the age of 9 in the Salem-Keizer music program and stuck with it until graduation; at which point I was the concert master of my high school’s orchestra. I had never planned to put it down, but life often has a way of changing your plans. I became a very young mother and got married only a year after graduation. Though my time on violin got put on the back burner, music was and is still a very prominent part of my life. Over the last 20 years I learned to play other instruments, and spent time raising my 4 super fantastic children who are now skilled musicians on piano, cello, violin, and drums.
As my children continued to grow older and more independent, I decided it was time to dive back into violin full time. After many months of practice and preparation I auditioned for entry into the Suzuki teacher training program and was accepted! I have also re-entered college as a music performance/education major. Though I am not a perfect virtuoso (and few people are), I will say that am doing what I love, and continuing to improve myself as a player and as a teacher through any means I can find. It is beyond important that we never stop learning, and I hope, through music, to inspire as many young people as I can to also never stop learning.
