She regularly attended Ithaca College’s Suzuki Summer Programs as a Suzuki student and then as a chamber music student. Alyson was given the opportunity to travel to Japan in order to perform for Dr. Suzuki one year before his death in 1997.
Alyson has vast experience as a teacher. She began instruction as a ‘practice helper’ at the age of 13 and has taught in numerous locations over the years. She has taught in public schools, after school programs, privately, group classes, chamber and orchestral music. Some places she has taught include: Ithaca Talent Education, Skaneateles Middle and High School, The Hudson School, Queens College, Montclair State University, the Waldorf School and the Westerhoff School of Music and Art.
Not only is Alyson an energetic teacher, she is an energetic performer as well. She performs for groups such as The Plainfield Symphony, Gateway Classical Musical Society, Bergen Simphonia Orchestra as well as many others. She also enjoys performing as a chamber musician as well as a soloist. She had her solo debut performing Rondo Capricciosso by Camille Saint-Saens in Salzburg and Vienna Austria. Upon moving to Long Valley, NJ she teaches at her home studio, Viva Violin Studio, while maintaining an active freelance performance career.
