Allison Peterson lives in the Wichita area with her husband Stacy Peterson M.D. She taught her five daughters the Suzuki Violin Method beginning at the age of three. They began performing together as a family, often with their grandmother, aunts and cousins. Allison and her family currently perform together and enjoy playing both classical and modern styles for various concerts and events under the name Uptown Violins of Wichita.
Allison along with teaching her own children is a prominent violin teacher in the Wichita area instructing in the Suzuki Violin Method. She has taught students of all ages and has successfully trained several students who have continued to study at the collegiate level, earning degrees in violin performance while receiving substantially large scholarships. Many of Allison’s students participate in the Wichita Youth Symphony program. Several have won the Youth Talent Competition their senior years and were given the opportunity to solo with the Youth Symphonies.
Allison studied with Tiberius Klausner at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music where she earned her Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance, followed by a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance from Wichita State University. Her vocal teachers included George Gibson, David Weber and more recently, Charleen Ayers.
Professionally, Allison has played as a member of the Wichita Symphony and the Richardson Symphony of Texas. She enjoys participating as a violinist in the Wichita Grand Opera, and is also part of the Cantabile String Quartet of Wichita, which plays for many wedding and corporate events.
