Violin, Viola, Cello, Suzuki in the Schools Teacher
Alissa Diaz started playing the violin at the age of four. Her love for music inspired her to continue her musical education at the “Dobrin Petkov” Music High School in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. She earned her Bachelor in Violin Performance from the Atlantic Union College and a Master in Violin Performance with emphasis in String Pedagogy from the Longy School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. There she studied with Virginia Gene-Rittenhouse, Mary-Lou Churchill, and Sophie Vilker. Throughout her career, she has been a faculty at the Atlantic Union College and the Upper Valley Music Center teaching violin, viola, cello, orchestra, and pedagogy. She has been a soloist of the New England Youth Ensemble, Atlantic Union College Orchestra, and has earned second and third prizes at the Competition for Bulgarian Music and Thayer Young Artist Competition.
