Alisa Horn is a free-lance cellist in New York City where she enjoys performing and teaching a wide variety of musical genres from classical to jazz to rock and beyond.  A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Alisa studied with Professor Peter Spurbeck, former principal cellist of the Memphis Symphony and professor of cello at the University of Memphis.  She received her Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance from the University of Michigan, studying with Professor Anthony Elliott, and completed her Master of Music in Cello Performance in 2006 at Northwestern University with Professor Hans Jorgen Jensen. Alisa began Suzuki cello lessons at the age of four and she completed her own Suzuki Teacher Training with Gilda Barston, Barbara Wampner, and Pamela Devenport at the School for Strings, New York.

Alisa recently performed on Broadway in “Sunday in the Park with George,” as well as in “An American in Paris,” “If/Then,” and “Next to Normal” on Broadway. Alisa is a member of the Inventions Trio with jazz legends, Marvin Stamm and Bill Mays.

Alisa currently has a home studio in Edgewater, NJ and is joining the faculty of Montclair University’s Extension Division as a Suzuki Cello Teacher.
