Alicia Takushi Andes has been teaching and coaching private and group cello lessons for over 20 years. The Hawai’i-born cellist graduated from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music. Over the years she has been on the faculty of the String Academy of Chicago, and has maintained private teaching studios in Illinois and Hawai’i. Alicia is a freelance cellist and music teacher. Her main performing passion is in chamber music and she performs in various private and public venues. She has also performed in a number of larger ensembles including the Peoria Symphony Orchestra, Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Erato Chamber Orchestra, and Chicago Virtuosi Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her cello career, Alicia was the Project Manager for Soli Deo Gloria, Inc., a commissioning organization for sacred classical music, the auditions coordinator for the opera singer apprentice program at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and assisted world-famous conductor Sir Andrew Davis on various projects.
