Alexis Walls, violin, has been teaching pre-college musicians since 2001. She began her violin studies under the Suzuki method at age 5, and 6 years later entered the Juilliard pre-college program under the direction of Shirley Givens. She is a graduate of Princeton University, where she received 1st prize in the university’s concerto competition and studied with the Brentano String Quartet. Upon graduation, Alexis established a private teaching studio while pursuing a violin performance and pedagogy degree at the Peabody Conservatory. She has since worked in management roles for the New York Philharmonic, New York City Opera, and other nonprofit arts organizations.

In 2010, Alexis established a youth orchestra gathering pre-college students from Juilliard and Manhattan School of Music. Her orchestra performed annually at the United Nations and at other prominent events including an international youth festival in Madrid, Spain. Known as the Metropolitan String Orchestra, her youth orchestra continues to provide pre-college musicians with the opportunity to study chamber music and string orchestra repertoire (www.metrostringorchestra.com).

Alexis teaches private students from Fairfield County, Westchester County, Manhattan, Long Island, and Princeton. Her studio is based in Greenwich, CT and she enjoys working with young musicians from beginner through advanced levels.
