Mr. Aleksey Shenker
Violin, Viola Teacher
Aleksey Shenker began studying the Violin in Israel at the age of seven.
He emigrated to the U. S. with his family in 2001 and enrolled in the Mannes
pre-college program as well as LaGuardia high-school for the performing arts.
He eventually graduated from the Mannes College Conservatory with a B.A. in violin.
Mr. Shenker experienced a broad range of teaching styles that stem from different
Schools. He was exposed to the Russian style by Dr.Semyon Ronkin, and Dr.Nina
Bellina—both descendants of such great artists as David Oistrakh, Menuhin, and Szerying.
He was acquainted with the Galamian school by Dr.Ann Setzer and Dr.Sally Thomas.
He learned the Suzuki method from Dr.Katherine Gerson, Dr.Allen Lieb. Mr. Shenker completed his Suzuki training and certification at the School for Strings.
He is currently a faculty member of the Virtuoso Suzuki Academy in Long
Island as well as the Diller-Quail school of music in Manhattan. Aleksey is an expert and passionate teacher. He recognizes that each student—whether child or adult—faces unique set of challenges, that each possesses a special personality and life story that impact on musicianship. He has taught children as young as three; at the other end of the spectrum he has taught those in the very twilight of life. Aleksey is an avid performer of various styles and is able and happy to perform and instruct in classical, modern or popular music. on 28th street and 2nd avenue in Manhattan. He is eager to hear from you and to accommodate your musical instruction needs.
