Dr. Agnes Simkens

Agnes Simkens teaches students at all levels and ages. She is Suzuki trained and has more than 20 years of teaching experience from beginners to graduate students. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree with a specialization in historical performance from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and a Masters degree from Yale University.  She has studied violin with Erick Friedman and Emanuel Borok.  Dr. Simkens is experienced in playing with many different groups that specialize in historical performance, as well as symphony orchestras and chamber groups in the United States and Europe. In addition to performing, Dr. Simkens has a true passion for teaching, and is strongly driven to share her knowledge and experiences with her students.
