This month, the Perpetual Motion Suzuki Strings were honored to perform Christmas, Hanukkah and Suzuki pieces in the Capitol building rotunda for the State House by Candlelight concert.
The Maryland State House is the oldest State Capitol building in continuous legislative use dating back to 1772. George Washington resigned his commission as commander of the Continental Army at this location in 1783.
The sound, as one can imagine, was very lively and it took up to 3 seconds at the end of a piece for the notes to stop resounding. The violinists really had to watch their teacher’s bow to stay together and it sounded fabulous!
It was a great evening of holiday cheer, history and Suzuki!
