This past February from the 2nd to 7th, a small Suzuki Festival took place in Santiago de Chile. Its location was the Conservatorio de Música de la Universidad Mayor, which is run by the famous Chilean pianist Roberto Bravo. The prestigious teacher Yasuko Joichi travelled from Chicago to give the piano Book 1 teacher training course. Six teachers received teacher training and ten children took part in masterclasses. These children had the opportunity to complement the excellent classes given by Mrs. Joichi with interesting and entertaining group lessons taught by the Chilean teacher Blancamaria Montesinos. The Festival was organized and coordinated by Cecilia Ruiz Franco, president and Tatiana Muñoz, secretary of the Suzuki Association of Chile. Our Association is already working towards our Festival 2007 in which we plan to offer teacher training in piano and an additional instrument.
