Joanne Lowe

Joanne Lowe is currently teaching 2nd and 3rd grade Suzuki Violin, Viola and Cello students at Victor Primary School (one of the first Suzuki schools in the nation). She has also been a member of the Suzuki Violin and Viola faculty at the Hochstein School in Rochester, NY since 1989. In 2007, Joanne achieved National Board Certification in Instrumental Music- the only string teacher in NY State that year. She completed her B.F.A. cum laude in Viola Performance/Music Education and her M.F.A. in Viola Performance from the SUNY at Buffalo, where she studied with Martha Katz of the Cleveland Quartet. A former member of the Buffalo Philharmonic and Syracuse Symphony Orchestras, Joanne has also performed with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Greater Rochester Women’s Orchestra (principal viola), Mercury Opera Orchestra, Rochester Ontario Society and the Genesee String Quartet. She has received Suzuki Teacher Certification in Book 1A, 1B, 2 and 3.
