Judith Starr

Judith Starr is a professional violinist in the award-winning Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra of Norway. 

She began studying the violin at the age of 5 with her father, William Starr. She spent 14 months with her family in Matsumoto, Japan, as a child, and returned as a teenager to study for a year with Shinichi Suzuki. At the Juilliard School she studied with Dorothy Delay and she earned her Bachelor of Music degree at Indiana University studying with Josef Gingold.

She served as assistant concertmaster in the Santiago Chile Philharmonic Orchestra, the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. While performing, she maintained a class of Suzuki students and taught at institutes throughout the country.

In 1996 she and her bassoonist husband moved to Bergen, Norway, with their three children. They both continue to perform, record and tour with the Bergen Philharmonic and their children are all performing artists.
