What to Bring:

Light jacket, sweater or sweatshirt

A few snacks. (Your room will have a refrigerator.)

Walking shoes are recommended for exploring park paths. Bring recreational equipment/clothing, as needed.

Bring any toiletries, sundries, food items you may need.  (There is no Walgreens of Safeway nearby!)

Instruments and stands: It is recommended that you bring your instrument for various sessions, including for our Celebrating Cancun event on Thursday evening—your instrument and your voice!

Guest rooms have coffee makers, mini-refrigerators, TV, wireless high speed internet, iron & ironing board, and hair dryers, among other amenities.

Recreation options include golf, fishing, tennis, indoor/outdoor pool, hot tub, etc.

Guest room check-in is 3:00 PM, or earlier if your room is ready.

Special diets: If you ordered vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or dairy free, the dining hall is aware of your request and is expecting to accommodate many of your needs.

Preparation for an optional session: Psychological Type: Self and Other Awareness:
The schedule includes a special  option to work with psychologist, author and Suzuki friend, Dr. Kay Collier McLaughlin on understanding your personality type.  Read about it here and take the assessment! Bring your results for a discussion session.

To take the test and read more, go to www.MBTIonline.com .  There’s no cost involved.

If you have taken the test previously, it may be interesting to repeat it; or just bring your score and get some new insights from Kay. 

Check in & Releases: Retreat check-in starts at 3:00 PM on Thursday in the lobby area. You will be asked to sign a photo and video release at that time. We hope to have recordings of many sessions and lots of photos to share!

Speakers and Panelists: Projection and WiFi should be available to you. Please upload your handouts as soon as possible. If your presentation absolutely requires that participants have printed material in hand during your session (guides, surveys, etc.), please send copies for duplication to [javascript protected email address] by 9:00 AM Monday, May 20. Otherwise, limited numbers of copies may be made for your by Lodge personnel (up to 25 @ $.25 each, no self-service.), or bring your own copies.

Rafter’s Restaurant at Deer Creek Lodge:  If you miss one of the meals scheduled for Retreat participants upstairs in the dining hall, the in-house restaurant is open these hours:   Breakfast: 8:00—10:30 AM; Lunch – 11:00 AM—2:00 PM; Dinner:  5:00-8:00 PM

Harding’s Lounge: Hours are 5:00 PM—9:00 PM or later on weekends.

Facility updates: New A-V and sound equipment has been added. The indoor pool has all new tiling, and the outdoor pool will be open as of the weekend. Workout room has all new equipment.

Chapter Affiliate representative: Bring your “show and tell” items to share your successes from the past year. Also identify one issue to explore with the group. We will share ideas about how to run these organizations so vital to our Suzuki community.

If you are working with a group considering chapter affiliation, we look forward to connecting with you, too!

Institute Directors: Please bring examples of materials to share: packet materials, contracts, brochures and other promotional material, even fun photos! Be prepared to share ideas and solutions, as well as to take a look at the challenges Suzuki institutes face in the 21st C.

Everyone: Your conference team will be actively seeking your ideas for Minneapolis 2020! Be prepare to share your thoughts!

Time to arrive & depart:

Arrive if possible by 4:00 PM on Thursday, May 23 Try not to miss the 6 sessions scheduled for that hour and for 5:00 PM, as well.

Sessions will conclude on Sunday, May 26, by 11:00 AM. For those still in-house, lunch will be at 11:00 AM—12:15 PM
