{"id":276060,"name":"Patrick Connolly","url":"","description":"Patrick Connolly began studying violin at the age of three with his mother, Denise Connolly, and by four, he was a student of Edward Kreitman at the Western Springs School of Talent Education. At fourteen, he began lessons with Thomas Wermuth, who would become a lasting mentor throughout his musical journey. Patrick went on to earn his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he studied under Brian Lewis and was a recipient of the Dorothy Richard Starling Foundation\u2019s Starling Distinguished Violinist Scholarship.\r\nThrough this prestigious scholarship, Patrick was able to study with some of the world\u2019s most celebrated violinists, including Cho-Liang Lin, Katie Lansdale, Chaz Wetherbee, Giora Schmidt, Bill Preucil, and David Kim. He also received regular chamber music and collaborative coachings from Anne Epperson, and worked closely with members of the Mir\u00f3 Quartet, Anton Nel, Colette Valentine, and Greg Allen.\r\nPatrick performed with the Joffrey Ballet Company during his time in Austin and played in the orchestra for the Menuhin Violin Competition in 2014. His orchestral experience includes performances with the Temple Symphony, Rockford Symphony, and Round Rock Symphony.\r\nIn 2018, he completed his Master of Music in Violin Performance under the renowned pedagogue Almita Vamos. While in Chicago, he further honed his orchestral skills through studies with David Taylor, Assistant Concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and attended the Aria Music Festival, focusing on solo repertoire and virtuosic technique.\r\nPatrick has taught violin since high school and has consistently maintained a private studio of over 20 students. He served as the Assistant Artist Teacher and later as the Director of the Western Springs School of Talent Education, the very institution where his musical roots began. He also led the advanced studio at both Western Springs and Naperville Suzuki School, mentoring the next generation of passionate violinists.\r\nFrom 2018\u20132025, Patrick served as the Director of the Chicago Consort, a nationally recognized student performance ensemble. Under his leadership, the ensemble toured internationally to Iceland, Sweden, and South Africa, where his students performed in professional venues and collaborated with global musicians. Additionally, he served as Co-Director of the Preludio Violin Program at Ithaca College for four years, continuing the legacy of his mentors Thomas and Allegra Wermuth.\r\nAs a student, Patrick was a member of the Maud Powell String Quartet, performing across the country and working with influential artists such as Rachel Barton Pine, Brant Taylor, members of the Pacifica Quartet, Roland Vamos, Isabelle Lippi, and Matthew Agnew. He also attended the Preludio program at the Ithaca Suzuki Institute during summers, supported in part by the Lawrence Wermuth Scholarship.\r\nPatrick has traveled extensively with his violin \u2014 performing and studying in Peru, Spain, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Iceland, Sweden, and across the United States in cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, Minneapolis, New Orleans, Atlanta, and more.\r\nIn his free time, Patrick enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as staying active through sports.
