The 2017 Las Vegas Desert Suzuki Institute will be enjoying its eighth year in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are thrilled to offer our SAA flute and piano students and their parents this musical experience.
With traditional Master Class, Repertoire, Technique and Ensemble classes, LVDSI also offers more in-depth work for our advanced Flute students Books 5 and up. Please check our website for more information on our Advanced Track offerings.
Performance opportunities include: Informal Noontime Student Performances, Ensemble Extravaganza and Final Concert. We are excited to sponsor a Concerto Competition with the winner performing with the Institute Chamber Orchestra. As always with LVDSI, you never know when or where a flash mob will appear to entertain you!
A Tuesday night Pizza and Movie Party, Theme Days, Wednesday night Swim and Family Potluck, LVDSI T-Shirt Signing Day, and more make this a memorable musical week for both students and adults.

Homestays for Students

LVDSI offers limited homestays for our out of town students. Requests are to be made as soon as registration is complete and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Housing & Meals
Ensemble Extravaganza! pre-concert dinner—$6.00 per person
Final Concert and pre-concert dinner catered by Buca de Beppo—$9.00 per person. Concert only is free and open to the public.
Clark High School welcomes all LVDSI attendees to bring their own lunches.
There are countless free entertainment offerings at most resort properties. Stay the weekend and enjoy an outdoor musical at Spring Mountain Ranch,The Blue Man Group (Venetian), Donnie and Marie (Flamingo), Showstoppers (Wynn), Terry Fator (Mirage), ‘O’ (Bellagio) or travel up to Cedar City, UT for the Shakespeare Festival. A boat trip on Lake Mead or a trip to Hoover Dam are always a must. The Springs Preserve is a beautiful place to learn about desert plants and animals. The brand-new Smith Center has several venues ranging from Broadway Musicals to Jazz Cabaret.
Students traveling by themselves will be met at the airport by one of our local parents/faculty. All hotels are serviced by shuttle service and/or cabs to and from McCarran Airport.
LVDSI will be featuring a Raffle to support our Scholarship Fund. Come and browse the wonderful items and help support your fellow musicians. Winners will be announced on Thursday, July 22.
A special evening is set aside for a Pizza/Movie party. Wednesday Evening will be a wonderful family evening when we will enjoy a bar-b-que and Swim Party. Our Thursday Night Ensemble Extravaganza will feature our Advanced Flute students presenting their double concerto, our 2017 concerto winner with the professional LVDSI Chamber Orchestra and our Flute and Piano Ensemble classes. All students are welcome to audition for the Student Concerto Competition.
Noontime is an ideal time for students to perform in an informal atmosphere. No audition required.
The SAA does not run the workshops and summer institutes; it approves separate businesses to run them.
