The 2019 Las Vegas Desert Suzuki Institute will be enjoying its ninth year in Las Vegas, Nevada. We are thrilled to offer our Suzuki flute and piano students, Books 1-4 as well as siblings, and their parents this musical experience. Intro To Music classes for ages 3-8 and Beginning Flute and Violin 1/2 day camps are also available. Teacher Training for ECC, and Flute Units 1 and 2 are our teacher training classes.

LVDSI features Repertoire, Technique, Ensemble and Master classes as well as more in-depth work for our advanced Flute students Books 5 and up. Please check our website for more detailed information on our enrichment and core classes for students.

Performance opportunities include: Informal Noontime Student Performances, Ensemble Extravaganza and Final Concert. We are excited to sponsor a Sonata Competition with the winners performing on the Wednesday noon program.

A Tuesday night Pizza and Movie Party, Theme Days, LVDSI T-Shirt Signing Day, and more make this a memorable musical week for both students and adults.

Scholarships

Homestays for Students

LVDSI offers limited homestays for our out of town students. Requests are to be made as soon as registration is complete and will be handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Merit Scholarships

For Students, Amount: $50.00-$150.00, Application due: February 1
We have a limited number of merit-based scholarships for LVDSI students. Please contact Cynthia Man at [javascript protected email address] to place your request. Requests will be reviewed and recipients notified on a monthly basis with requests made by the following dates: February 1, March 1 and April 1, 2019.

Recreation

There are countless entertainment offerings at the resort properties. Stay the weekend and enjoy an outdoor musical at Spring Mountain Ranch or travel to Cedar City, UT for the Shakespeare Festival. A trip and tour to Hoover Dam is always a must. The Springs Preserve is a beautiful place to learn about desert plants and animals. The Smith Center has several venues ranging from Broadway Musicals to Jazz Cabaret.

We are across the street from world-famous Ethel M Chocolate Factory. Enjoy a factory tour, their cactus garden and pick up some chocolate treats in their store.

Other Info

Students traveling by themselves will be met at the airport by one of our local parents/faculty. All hotels are serviced by shuttle service, Lyft, Uber and/or cabs to and from McCarran Airport.

LVDSI will be featuring a Raffle to support our Scholarship Fund. Come and browse the wonderful items and help support your fellow musicians. Winners will be announced on Thursday, July 11.

Tuesday evening is our Pizza/Movie party. The Thursday Night Ensemble Extravaganza will feature our Advanced Flute students presenting their double concerto, our ukulele and drumming class presentations and our Flute and Piano Ensemble classes. Final Concert on Friday is a formal concert of Suzuki Repertoire.

Noontime activities include our Monday Faculty Recital to Friday’s group rehearsal for the Final Concert.
