Event Description

  • This course will be offered online only

  • Cello Unit 9/10 is both a Unit course and a review of the entire cello repertoire. It includes 18 hours of pedagogy plus individual playing practicals scheduled outside of course time. Course dates are July 5, 6, and 7 and July 23, 24, and 25 from 9 AM-Noon CDT. Preparatory work must be completed in June and July. Please email the ASI Office ASAP for training contact information or contact Tanya Carey directly.

  • Visit the American Suzuki Institute website for course prerequisites and requirements

  • $40 tuition rebate will be given to teachers who sign up for two Suzuki core units (SECE, Practicum, Enrichment, and Supplemental courses not included)

  • $25 tuition rebate will be given to teachers who sign up for a Unit or Supplemental course and a 10-hour Enrichment course in the same week.

Prerequisite course:

Cello Unit 3

Audition: Cello Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by June 21 *

Trainer Information

Tanya Carey

Tanya Lesinsky Carey, cellist, has presented master classes and concerts in over 15 countries and the USA. She was assistant principal of the Milwaukee Symphony, presented concerts in Tully and Carnegie Halls, performed concertos with orchestra, and made two records with the Lydian Trio with Almita and Roland Vamos. She and her husband released the CD Golden Celebration to positive national review. Her students have won prizes in major contests. She is author of Cello Playing is Easy; Artist Teacher at Roosevelt University and Music Institute of Chicago Academy; maintains a studio; and is a sought after clinician.
