Event Description

Every Child Can! logoEvery Child Can! an introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines.

Education for Happiness is thrilled to host Susan Montzka McDonald to give the course Every Child Can!

Susan Montzka McDonald is Suzuki Coordinator at the Community Music School of Webster University, where she has taught for over 35 years. She has taught at numerous Suzuki workshops, and at the American, Chicago, Colorado, Florida, Louisville, and Peaks to Plains Suzuki Institutes. She is a registered SAA Violin Teacher Trainer, and recently completed a three-year term on the SAA Board of Directors.

Susan began her study of the violin as a Suzuki student of Kazuko Numanami in Oberlin, Ohio. She earned her BM in Music Education from Lawrence University Conservatory and her MA in Violin Performance from Western Illinois University, where she studied Suzuki Pedagogy with Almita Vamos. She continued her long-term pedagogy study with John Kendall at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. She currently performs with the Metropolitan Orchestra of St. Louis. She is also the mother of two Suzuki violin graduates.
