Additional Schedule Information

This course is part of a semester-long long-term training course from August 19—Dec. 2 at the University of Georgia that will include Violin Book 4 and Violin Book 5. The Book 4 unit will end October 7th. Class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:35—10:50am EDT. Some University students will attend in person.

Prerequisite course:

Viola Unit 3, or Violin Unit 3

Audition: Violin Basic, or Violin Intermediate, or Violin Comprehensive, or Viola Basic, or Viola Intermediate, or Viola Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by August 5 *

Trainer Information

Kristin Jutras

Kristin Jutras, Director of the UGA Community Music School, began studying the violin at age 5 in the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Department in Rochester, NY. She went on to receive both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in violin performance as well as a Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School and became a full-time member of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Dallas Chamber Orchestra, and Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra.

Since moving to Georgia in 2006, Kristin’s focus has shifted to teaching using the Suzuki Method. In 2016 she was awarded a Certificate of Achievement from the Suzuki Association of the Americas, and in 2019 became a Suzuki Method Violin Teacher Trainer. She currently serves as a co-director of the Atlanta Suzuki Institute, and in Fall 2020, began teaching long-term Suzuki Violin Pedagogy courses at the University of Georgia.
