DESCRIPTION:From Teri Einfeldt: Suzuki Violin Book 3 is what is considered a short\, but mighty collection of repertory . One of the books with the fewest number of pieces\, musicianship and technique are paired at a higher level in order to prepare for the more challenging pieces moving forward. Comprised of mostly dances with the addition of Dvorak’s beloved Humoresque in the friendly key of D major\, it is a bit misleading and can result in moving through the book too quickly\, providing an unstable foundation for Book 4 and beyond. DESCRIPTION:Cello Unit 3 “The Last 25%: Completing the Foundation” focuses on developing expressive playing\, refined bow control\, and greater technical independence. This unit builds upon the foundational skills from Books 1 and 2 expanding left hand techniques such as vibrato and shifting\, and bowing articulations. The repertoire emphasizes tone production\, phrasing\, and stylistic awareness. \nParticipants will study the repertoire\, with attention to: \n\nAdvanced bow strokes and nuanced tone production\nExpanding left-hand facility\, shifting\, and vibrato development\nMusical phrasing\, articulation\, and stylistic interpretation\nRefinement of posture\, balance\, and coordination\nTeaching strategies appropriate for intermediate Suzuki students\n\nAlso discussed are reading progression and positions\, developing a scale routine\, supporting parents\, and group classes. Book 3 is the bridge between foundational training and intermediate-level study\, preparing teachers to help their cellists work more independently\, creatively\, and musically. DESCRIPTION:This Suzuki Book 3 course will expand on the Philosophical and technical ideas presented in Books 1 and 2 as we work through the repertoire in Suzuki Book 3.   Here students will begin to study advanced left hand techniques of shifting and vibrato.  We will also focus on intentional musical phrasing\, helping the student to move from imitation to thoughtful musical note grouping. \nAsynchronous observations for the course will be done through realviolinlessons.com.  Each course participant will receive a one year subscription as part of their tuition for the course. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. DESCRIPTION:Book 3 cello will be held online April 6\, 13\, 20\, May 4\, 11\, 18 from 8:30 to 11 Chicago Time (CST/CDT).  The cost is $450 unless you register for the package of Book 2\, and 3 and Teaching Strategies ($900). \nPre-Requisites: \n\nEvery Child Can\nCello Units 1 and 2 and Teaching Strategies (offered separately Feb 23\, March 23\, 30\, and April 27)\nAudition\n\nRequirements:  \n\n100% attendance\n1 book report\n1 wrap-up\n8 hours of observation\nthe practical exam which is playing the book from memory. The practical time may be scheduled outside of class time depending on enrollment.\n\nWhen you pay me\, I will send you the course materials and online access. The plan is to offer books 4 through 8 the following year with a similar schedule.
