DESCRIPTION:Unit 3 marks a dramatic shift in technical expectations. The quantity and complexity of skills expand rapidly\, and this is often where gaps in foundational work begin to surface. When teaching is not carefully sequenced and thoughtfully guided\, students may struggle—not from a lack of ability\, but from a lack of clarity. \nAt this point\, the Suzuki triangle encounters stronger and more frequent waves of challenge. Without reinforced communication and support among students\, parent\, and teacher\, those waves can quickly turn into frustration rather than growth. \nAt the same time\, this unit offers an incredible opportunity. When students develop solid skills\, clarity\, and self-confidence during Book 3\, it can become one of the most impactful turning points in their overall cello technique and musical development. \nIn Unit 3\, students are suddenly asked to coordinate multiple new demands at once—more frequent shifting\, longer slurs\, more complex bow distribution\, string crossings\, clearer articulation\, and a wider variety of tone colors—often within the same piece. What once felt manageable in isolation must now function simultaneously. DESCRIPTION:A pre-requisite of this course is Piano Teaching Strategies which is also being offered by the Suzuki School of Newton on Wednesday mornings from November 5 through December 3rd\, 2025. \nAll pieces from Piano Book 3 must be memorized\, and Units 1 and 2 must be completed in addition to the Teaching Strategies course. Participants may be asked to submit a video of the entire book\, or perform all pieces by memory in an interview format. \n100% attendance is required in order to receive course completion. DESCRIPTION:Libro 3 PIANO SUZUKI \nEn este curso mostraremos pasos para la enseñanza del\nrepertorio Suzuki según el nivel correspondiente: pasos técnicos en el\ninstrumento\, ejercicios preparatorios\, estrategias de trabajo y estudio\nen casa\, clases grupales\, trabajo con padres y creación de comunidad. \nEn síntesis iremos avanzando en el instrumento de acuerdo al repertorio del libro 3 y el proceso por el cual vamos enseñando. \nPara Latinoamerica es requisito a partir del libro 2\, hacer Estrategias junto al libro\, de preferencia. DESCRIPTION:Dates: July 3-6\, 2025 \nInstructor: Nicole Wilton \nHours: 15 hours of class\, 8 hours of observations. \nRegistration Deadline: $550 CAD (by May 15) $625 CAD (after May 15)\nNo Registrations accepted after June 1\, 2025 \nNon-refundable Deposit: $100 CAD \nTraining Prerequisites & Course Order: Teachers need to be 18\, have a high school diploma\, and be Active Members to take training. ECC\, Unit 1\, Unit 2 and Teaching Strategies are prerequisites for Unit 3. Participants must register with SAA. \nCourse Preparation: Teacher Training participants are asked to prepare repertoire to be studied to the point of fluent performance. Memorization of repertoire is encouraged for Unit 3.
