DESCRIPTION:This course provides students with skills and resources needed to teach beginning violin to students using the Suzuki method. Topics include parent education\, beginning set-up\, learning by ear\, early-level group class planning and teaching\, observation strategies\, recognizing and teaching musical and technical skills appropriate to young children at the book 1 level\, teaching points of the Suzuki Book 1 repertoire\, strategies for teaching music notation and reading\, and setting up a private studio. Students will become conversant with the philosophical ideas presented in Nurtured by Love\, by Shinichi Suzuki. Required course materials are Nurtured by Love\, by Shinichi Suzuki\, and the Suzuki Violin Book 1 repertoire book and related reference recordings. This year we will offer: \nViolin Unit 1 with Charles Krigbaum \nLearning from various perspectives and styles provides a rich\, multi-faceted\, and inspiring experience for students\, parents\, and teachers! With 28 instructional hours and limitless possibilities to observe master teachers in action\, aspiring teachers will have the opportunity to hone their craft and learn how to bring fun and adaptability to their teaching! \nFor teacher development this year\, we are offering the Unit 1 course in violin and the Unit 2 course in violin and cello\, which provide a foundational understanding of the Suzuki Method and explore the teaching points for each unit in depth. These will be presented and contextualized within the Suzuki Method and Philosophy by the Teacher Trainer leading the course.  \nTraining begins on different dates/at different times for each course. Participants residing on campus have the option to arrive a day early and/or depart a day later for an additional fee\, if needed. \nEvery Child Can (ECC) training is required of all wishing to participate in Suzuki Teacher Training\, however if you have completed the course in the past then it is optional. ECC is a course that introduces the Suzuki Method\, a teaching philosophy that’s based on the idea that all children can develop their musical abilities. DESCRIPTION:The Unit 1 Course offers a foundational introduction to the Suzuki teaching philosophy and the pedagogy of Pre-Twinklers through Book 1 on violin and/or viola. Através do estudo analítico das Variações e do repertório subsequente\, o professor aprenderá a fragmentar dificuldades complexas em “pequenos passos”\, garantindo que cada nova competência — seja ela rítmica\, de coordenação ou de articulação — seja assimilada de forma natural e sólida. \nAlém do aspecto instrumental\, o educador aprenderá a gerir o Triângulo Suzuki\, desenvolvendo estratégias para treinar os pais como mentores em casa e estabelecer uma rotina de escuta ativa.
