SUMMARY:Cello Teaching Strategies
DESCRIPTION:This 10-hour pedagogy masterclass is designed to enhance teaching skills in a supportive\, trust-based environment. Rather than focusing on repertoire\, this course centers on how we teach—strengthening observation skills\, refining communication\, and reinforcing the strategies that create meaningful learning moments for students and families. Each session functions as a pedagogy masterclass in which participants present their own teaching for feedback\, gaining practical insights to improve effectiveness. It is a prerequisite for Unit 3 training. \nAt each class\, participants share their prepared video excerpts (6–10 minutes) of their individual and/or group teaching\, aligned with their registered training level. At least one video must feature an individual lesson with the student playing Suzuki repertoire from memory\, and include visible interaction between teacher\, student\, and parent whenever possible. Videos serve as a springboard for collegial discussion\, allowing the group to celebrate effective teaching and identify one or two high‑impact areas for growth. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. Follow the prompts to enter your payment information to pay the nonrefundable deposit fee.   \nYou will receive an email confirmation after signing up with instructions on how to pay the balance of the tuition.  You can also verify your enrollment from your profile under Upcoming Courses. \nIf the enrollment box isn’t visible and you only see the waitlist option\, it means you’re missing either an audition or a course prerequisite on your training profile. Please join the waitlist while you complete that class or wait for your audition results. You can check your training profile here to see what you are missing: https://suzukiassociation.org/person-profile/ \nIf you have any trouble enrolling here\, or if you wish to update your training profile with any missing courses\, please write to info@suzukiassociation.org.  \nAll transactions are final and non-refundable.

SUMMARY:Violin and Viola Teaching Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Teaching Strategies shifts the focus from what to teach to the art of how to teach—where real growth happens for both teacher and student. \nGrounded in the Suzuki philosophy that we learn best through observation and collaboration\, this course offers a dynamic\, interactive environment. Participants will explore a diverse collection of teaching videos\, engage in rich discussions\, and gain practical insights that can be immediately applied in their own studios. \nLed by Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer\, Stacy Garner\, this course provides a supportive space for Violin and Viola teachers to reflect\, refine\, and reimagine their teaching approach. \nParticipants will share 10–20 minutes of their own teaching videos from private lessons\, master classes\, or group settings and receive feedback from the trainer and other participants. Bring your teaching questions\, challenges\, and ideas\, and leave with fresh strategies\, renewed confidence\, and a deeper understanding of what constitutes effective teaching. \nPlease have your videos easily accessible via an online drive for seamless sharing during class. \nImportant: As of January 2025\, Teaching Strategies is a required course for all Suzuki teachers before enrolling in Book 3 training or beyond. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. Follow the prompts to make payment in full for this course.  \nAfter getting tickets below\, you’ll receive a confirmation email from the SAA. You’ll also be able to verify your enrollment on your profile under Upcoming Courses. \nIf the enrollment box isn’t visible and you only see the waitlist option\, it means you’re missing either an audition or a course prerequisite on your training profile. Please join the waitlist while you complete that class or wait for your audition results. You can check your training profile here to see what you are missing: https://suzukiassociation.org/person-profile/ \nIf you have any trouble enrolling or if your profile needs to be updated\, please write to info@suzukiassociation.org with the details.  \nAll transactions are final and non-refundable.

SUMMARY:Cello Teaching Strategies
DESCRIPTION:Teaching Strategies is required to continue with book 3 training. You can take it after Unit 1 or 2. \nThis course will be held from 8:30 to 11am Chicago time (CST/CDT) on 4 days: Feb 23\, March 23\, 30 and April 27. The cost is $100 and the maximum in the class is 9. \nThe point of this course is to assess teaching. Each person submits 2 ten-minute videos of teaching for about an hour of viewing and discussion. I have taught this course many times and the enrollees come away energized with realizing the many styles that are effective and a game plan to refine their own presentations. If you don’t have a class\, you can participate with a video as a practice partner for a young cellist. This course is designed to give time to work on concepts between presentations. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”.
