DESCRIPTION:Student Institute: June 28th-July 2nd \nAbout the Institute\nSuzuki Institute offers 5 days of musical instruction and training from qualified registered Suzuki instructors\, including group and technique classes\, masterclasses\, and enrichment courses such as eclectic styles\, choir and string orchestra. Students will benefit from learning alongside their peers from teachers other than their home teachers. Learning from various perspectives and styles at Institute provides a rich\, multi-faceted\, and inspiring experience for students\, parents\, and teachers! \nA parent/guardian must accompany their student at all times. This includes moving to and from various locations on campus and during meals. If you elect to reside on campus\, the student and parent/guardian will share a suite-style room with a shared bathroom between two bedrooms. Families will be able to sign up for a 1/2 suite: one room with a shared bathroom (houses one adult and one child) or a full suite: 2 bedrooms with private bathroom (houses up to four people.)  \nSuzuki Teacher Training at UNT\nJune 26th – July 3rd \nECC – June 26th \nUnit 1 – June 27th-July 3rd \nUnit 2 & Teaching Strategies – June 28 – July 3rd \nStudent Institute – June 28 – July 2nd \nAbout the Training\nRunning in conjunction with the student institute\, we will offer teacher training for adult professionals.  \nThe Suzuki Institute offers 8 days of teacher instruction and training from qualified registered Suzuki instructors. This year we will offer: \nViolin Unit 1 \nViolin Unit 2 &Teaching Strategies \nCello Unit 2 &Teaching Strategies \nLearning from various perspectives and styles at the Institute provides a rich\, multi-faceted\, and inspiring experience for students\, parents\, and teachers! With 28 instructional hours and limitless possibilities to observe master teachers in action\, aspiring teachers will have the opportunity to hone their craft and learn how to bring fun and adaptability to their teaching! \nFor teacher development this year\, we are offering the Unit 1 course in violin and the Unit 2 course in violin and cello\, which give a foundational understanding of the Suzuki Method and explore the teaching points for each unit in depth. These will be presented and contextualized within the Suzuki Method and Philosophy by the Teacher Trainer leading the course.  \nTraining begins at different times for each course. Participants have the option to arrive a day early and/or depart a day late for an additional fee\, if needed.  \nEvery Child Can training is required of all wishing to participate in Suzuki Teacher Training\, however if you have completed ECC in the past then it is optional. For those who plan to ONLY participate in Every Child Can training\, please see below for pricing/details. “Every Child Can!” (ECC!) is a course that introduces the Suzuki Method\, a teaching philosophy that’s based on the idea that all children can develop their musical abilities. This course is offered to parents and teacher trainees alike\, is not instrument-specific. It is a prerequisite for further teacher development offered by the Suzuki Association of the Americas.  \nParticipants who plan to complete Every Child Can (ECC) training during Suzuki Teacher Training at UNT can add that training through this registration form. ECC training will take place June 26th.

SUMMARY:Advanced Cello and Violin Programs
DESCRIPTION:Designed for the highly motivated student\, this two-week session provides a more intensive study routine than the Student Institute. Students must be at least at the level of violin Book 7 or cello Book 6. There is a limit of 24 violinists and 12 cellists. \nThe schedule includes the following: \n\nfive one-hour masterclass lessons\nfive half-hour piano coaching sessions\ndaily repertory class\ndaily technique class with emphasis on scales\, arpeggio series\, shifting\, double-stop studies\, various bow strokes\, and practice techniques\ndaily performance class\ndaily orchestra rehearsal\n\nStudents enrolled in the advanced repertoire program will be expected to practice between two and three hours each day\, depending on the age and level of the individual. Each student should prepare solo material that will form the basis for coaching sessions at the institute. New solo material may also be presented.
