SUMMARY:Cathryn S. Lee’s Developing the Advanced Bow Arm from Twinkle to Mendelssohn and Beyond
DESCRIPTION:This in-person teacher workshop created by Cathryn Lee gives the teacher a practical and child-friendly way to efficiently develop the complete bow arm from the very beginning.  This topic-based course will make teaching both a beautiful tone and a bio-mechanically effective bow arm fun for the child and easy for the teacher. \nComplex right arm concepts will be made simple with the help of a cast of child-friendly characters: Panda\, Jelly-fish and Rabbit.  While advanced bow strokes (spiccato\, bariolage and more) will be made instantly better for the more advanced student using Cathryn’s “magic formulas”. \nOf special interest for Suzuki teachers is the use of excerpts from the Suzuki repertoire as well as the standard repertoire beyond the volumes to teach the bow strokes. Bonus hours during the institute will include observing the bowing techniques in action in the student classes. \nRequired text books for the course are Bow Exercises\, Bow Strokes and Bow Stroke Excerpts by Cathryn Lee. \nTuition (payable below):\nBy May 31: $295\nBy July 15: $325\nAfter July 15: $350 (pending space available) \nIf you need meals and housing\, please visit japanseattle.org and look for the registration tab. The registration fee will be waived on the Japan Seattle website. \nPrerequisites:\nECC or Filosofia\nActive Membership (check yours here)\nViolin or Viola Unit 1 \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account to join the course roster. Log in at the link below in a different window\, then refresh this page:\n https://suzukiassociation.org/login/ \nNext\, scroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+1”\, then click “get tickets”.
