Event Description

This option is the Enrichment option:

10 hours of GCT lab spread over a minimum of 4 days. Teachers explore and try out different strategies.

Open to all string teachers

Maximum enrollment: 20 teachers

Prerequisites: ECC and Unit 1

Participants must be active SAA Members and will have the option to register the class

FOR MORE IN-DEPTH STUDY, CELLIST SHOULD CONSIDER THE SUPPLEMENTARY COURSE (SEE BELOW)

Supplementary Course option: This is an add-on to the Enrichment Course for Cello Teachers Only

  • 10 hours of GCT lab spread over a minimum of 4 days. Teachers explore and try out different strategies.

  • 8 hours of attendance at student classes where TWPs will play along, observe, and have the opportunity to present teaching segments

  • 5 additional hours of seminar to discuss and plan the group classes, and explore more cello-specific activities

Maximum enrollment: 8 teachers (from the 20 registered for Enrichment)

Prerequisites: Training through Book 4 and at least 2 years of group-teaching experience

Participants must be active SAA Members and will have the option to register the class

Trainer Information

Carey Beth Hockett

Carey Beth Hockett has been actively involved in the Suzuki world for more than 40 years. She taught at the Ithaca Talent Education School and then for the London Suzuki Group and is now on the faculty of the Colburn School in Los Angeles. She was a member of the International Suzuki Association’s Cello Committee and served as repertoire consultant to the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in England and the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. She teaches string pedagogy at the Colburn Conservatory and is the Director of the schools’ Jumpstart String Program.
