The University of Louisville with trainer Kirsten Marshall is offering Unit 1 in an expanded format that will allow for more exploration, interactive discussion and demonstration of teaching points. Classes will meet Mondays from 9am-Noon EST on August 22, August 29, September 12, September 19, September 26, October 10, October 17, October 24, October 31, November 7, November 14, November 21, and November 28, 2022. Observations will be completed asynchronously and discussed in each class.

Prerequisite course:

Every Child Can!, or Filosofía

Audition: Violin Basic, or Violin Intermediate, or Violin Comprehensive, or Viola Basic, or Viola Intermediate, or Viola Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by August 8 *

Trainer Information

Kirsten Marshall

Kirsten Marshall, director of orchestral programs and violin instructor, is on faculty at Ithaca Talent Education (NY) and lecturer in Suzuki pedagogy at University of Louisville. She received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music in violin performance and Suzuki pedagogy, as well as a bachelor’s degree in music education from Case Western Reserve University. Her conducting studies were with David Einfeldt (Hartt School of Music). Ms. Marshall is an active violinist in the Ithaca area and holds the David and Lesli Sagan chair of the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra, Ithaca’s professional ensemble. She is frequently sought after as a string clinician at Suzuki institutes and workshops across the United States.  Ms. Marshall is a registered violin teacher trainer with the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Her high-energy style blends humor and passion, engaging players at the highest level for riveting performances.
