Piano Teaching Strategies

Instructor: Caroline Fraser

Event Description

The Teaching Strategies course offers Suzuki teachers the opportunity to receive feedback from master teacher Caroline Fraser and to share ideas and encouragement with a community of teachers learning together.

Suzuki Circle 2021 at Suzuki By The Green introduces a new twist to this valuable course.

As always, participants may bring a lesson video from their studio or teach one of their own students during class time, receiving feedback on those lessons. As an alternative, participants may instead choose to teach a student belonging to another course participant, and receive feedback on their lesson as a “guest teacher.” Participants choosing this option will be paired with another teacher to “swap” students during the class.

Suzuki Circle 2021 at Suzuki By The Green’s Teaching Strategies is a one-week (20 hour) course. In addition to the offerings mentioned above, the course will include the following extra elements:

  • Observation and discussion of daily masterclasses taught by Caroline Fraser (each participant will be invited to arrange for one of their students to take part in these masterclasses, at an additional fee).

  • Optional observation of student activities (group classes, parent talks, student recitals) on Saturday.

  • Optional participation in “Suzuki Circle Cafe” teacher discussion and “Teacher Music Share” performance opportunity on Sunday.

With this expanded online Teaching Strategies course, we aim to build community and inspire students and teachers alike with new ideas and perspectives to bring back to their home studios.
