Group Class Techniques for Cellist, with a special emphasis on supplementary repertoire.
This year’s GCT course will once again explore a variety of strategies for teaching engaging and effective group classes, incorporating an array of supplementary repertoire that has been successfully used in a variety of group settings in the past.
GCT participants who have trained through Book 4 will have the opportunity to present teaching segments to children’s classes.
Course options:
Enrichment class: 10 hours of teachers’ seminar
Supplementary class: 10 hours of teachers’ seminar, 10 hours of observation with opportunity to present teaching segments, 5 hours of recap of children’s classes

Trainer Information

Carey Beth Hockett has been actively involved in the Suzuki world for more than 40 years. She taught at the Ithaca Talent Education School and then for the London Suzuki Group and is now on the faculty of the Colburn School in Los Angeles. She was a member of the International Suzuki Association’s Cello Committee and served as repertoire consultant to the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music in England and the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. She teaches string pedagogy at the Colburn Conservatory and is the Director of the schools’ Jumpstart String Program.
