Event Description
Every Child Can! is a one day introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines.

Susan Kempter, Senior Lecturer at UNM, SAA Teacher Trainer, clinician, author and Interdisciplinary Specialist, created and directs Bachelors and Masters degrees in String Pedagogy at the University of New Mexico. Students receive a education in pedagogy and related topics. Susan also created and directs a teaching lab school, and co-directs Mad About Music, the lab school tour group.
She is the author of Between Parent & Teacher: A Plan for Nurturing Suzuki Students at Home, and How Muscles Learn: Teaching the Violin with the Body in Mind. Folk Melodies of New Mexico and the Southwest, [a graded collection of indigenous music for violin students] is being published by The UNM Press this spring, 2016.
She received the ASTA Citation for Leadership and Merit, Studio Teacher of the Year by the New Mexico Chapter of ASTA, the and the Bravos! Award for Music by the Albuquerque Arts Alliance.
