Additional Schedule InformationEvery Child Can! will be held Feb 4-5, 2021 in conjunction with the Suzuki Association of Utah Annual Parent-Teacher Convention. The time blocks for the ECC, taught by Dr. Cheney, are 11am-3pm on Feb 4 and 11am-3pm on Feb 5. The SAU Convention will be held online, and includes access to pre-recorded videos as well as live sessions for students, parents, and teachers. The guest clinician for the Convention is Michele Horner, author of Life Lens: Seeing Your Children in Color.
Event DescriptionEvery Child Can! an introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines.

Trainer Information
Carey Cheney has been teaching and performing for 40 years. She is a SAA Registered Cello Teacher Trainer. She began her cello studies in Vancouver, Canada, with Judy Fraser. Afterwards, she studied with Malcolm Tait at Brandon Univ., and on to Germany where she studied with Andre Navarra. She holds the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts from the Univ. of Utah, and a Master of Music in cello performance, from the Univ. of Texas at Austin. While there she studied cello and pedagogy with Phyllis Young. She has taught many Suzuki institutes in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.
She often travels internationally: to Canada, Mexico, Japan, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. She is the author, recording artist, editor and arranger of the 8 volume series, Solos For Young Cellists.
