Event Description

Prerequisite: Registered Book 1 Training or higher

How often have you wished for a crystal ball to look into the future and see your students? How can you begin with the end in mind to set them up with listening skills to help them excel in the later Books? How do you know where to stand firm in your expectations and where to give a little? Which musical skills need to be addressed first? Which can wait until later?

Participants in this five-hour workshop will trace musical issues of their choice (chosen by consensus, i.e. Tone, Plateau Dynamics, Crescendo and Diminuendo, Phrasing, Form, etc.) through the repertoire. The goal is to understand how mastery of the musicianship learned in Book 1 sets students up for success in later pieces and for each Participant to leave the workshop with a detailed chart of review spots in the early repertoire that apply to Books 2—5.

Course full.
