Event Description
This course covers theory concepts and implementation during private lessons for students preparing for the Prelude to Bach’s first suite. Concepts covered will be written and aural theory, as well as theory-based intonation and musicality. This will be done in the context of the repertoire in Suzuki books 1-4. If there is time, we will cover beginning improvisation as well. Participants will be asked bring to class their favorite Book 4-level supplementary piece (a piece not in the Suzuki books) to share with the class. We will use these pieces as a starting point for discussions on how to analyze new pieces for theory elements.
