This course is part of a two-year Suzuki pedagogy program offered by the Suzuki String School of Guelph at Wilfrid Laurier University. Participants must commit to the full two year program. All classes run on Fridays starting on Sept. 6 from 1 pm to 4 pm at Wilfrid Laurier University Aird Building Room A204. The cost is $2000 per year. First year includes ECC! and units 1 to 4. Second year includes Units 5 to 8 and Practicum unit.

Viola Unit 3, or Violin Unit 3

Trainer Information

Paule Barsalou

Paule Barsalou holds a BM in performance from Laval University and an MM in performance and Suzuki pedagogy from the Cleveland Institute of Music. Ms. has been teaching at the Suzuki String School of Guelph (SSSG) since 1989 and was artistic director of the school from 2004 to 2021. She is the coordinator of the SSSG long-term teacher training program. She has been a sanctioned Suzuki teacher trainer since 2003 and trained musicians in the Suzuki approach at institutes and workshop throughout Canada, Barbados and El Salvador. She teaches at workshops and institutes across Canada and adjudicates at festivals throughout Ontario.  Ms. Barsalou collaborates with journaling expert Christie Zimmer, in developing materials, videos and parent workshops around the use of reflective note taking in the study of music. Together they are the co-founders of Practice Notes, a reflective note taking system for fostering independent learning in young musicians.
