This course is for teachers of any instrument who wish to incorporate the development of creativity through musical improvisation into their personal practice and their teaching.

Trainer Information

Alice Kay Kanack

Alice Kay Kanack earned her BM in composition and viola performance from the Eastman School of Music in 1985. She trained in Suzuki pedagogy in the US and with Dr. Suzuki in Japan. She is author of the Creative Ability Development Series of books and CDs including the recently released book “Improvising String Quartets” published and distributed by Alfred Publishing Co. She is also the owner/director of the Kanack School of Music in Rochester, NY. She has presented at SAA and ASTA conferences and at the University of Rochester/Eastman Symposium on Musical Creativity and Recent Brain Research. Other appearances include conferences in Sydney, Australia; Paris, France; Matsumoto, Japan; and multiple appearances across the United States and Canada.
