Event Description

The Chamber Music Program is designed for students who wish to suppliment the student program with a chamber music experience. 

Chamber Program Conponents 

  • Daily Master class (6 days, 3 in a class—nearly twice the individual instruction than in the student program)

  • Daily Repertoire class, chamber music coaching, and orchestra

  • Enrichment classes options include Chimes, Cello choir and Viola for violinsts, Composition and Jazz improv (As determined by the Directors.)

*Please note:  individual arrangements must be made in advance for any student who wishes to attend the Institute without a chaperone for the Chamber Music program

Audition Information & Requirements (by audition only)

Students interested in the Chamber Music Program should have:
- intermediate (or higher) sight-reading skills
- strong independent practicing skills

  • be violinists studying Book 6 or beyond; cellists and pianists studying Book 5 or beyond; or violists studying Book 4 or beyond (or equivalent as determined by the Institute director)

Required Materials:

  • High-quality audition 
  • Chamber Program Audition form

  • Completed registration form

  • Letter of recommendation from the applicant’s home teacher and the signed chamber/advanced program assessment form is required.

  • All applicants (new and returning) must submit a recording.

Applicants will be notified of acceptance no later than June 1, 2018

Recording Submission Guidelines

1.    Audition recordings should be a DVD or Youtube link (or equivalent)

2.    Submission should include TWO pieces contrasting in style and tempo. 
Please list selections in order on the label/email. 
3.    Piano accompaniment is recommended for string players
4.    All submissions should be reviewed by the home teacher prior to submission. 
5.    Performances should represent the most polished level, 
not necessarily the most advanced piece.
