Additional Schedule Information

This course will be held on six Fridays with three hours each session. Observations can be scheduled at the Suzuki School of Newton, particularly Fridays from 3:30-6:00 where both individual lessons and group classes are held for book 2 students. Other days and times are readily available as well. Students should know the book 1 and book 2 repertoire thoroughly prior to attending the first class.

Prerequisite course:

Piano Unit 1

Audition: Piano Basic, or Piano Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by February 16 *

Trainer Information

Sachiko Isihara

​Now in her 26th year as Executive Director of the Suzuki School of Newton, Sachiko Isihara earned her Bachelor’s in Piano Performance at New England Conservatory and a Master’s in Piano Performance at Juilliard. She has been a member of SAA since 1984. Her Suzuki training includes being a Kenkyusei in Matsumoto in 1993 and a long term apprenticeship with Colette Daltier in France. Sachiko has completed European Suzuki Level 5. In 2008, she became an SAA Suzuki Piano Teacher Trainer. In 2009 Sachiko became the director of Suzuki By the Green Piano Institute in Newton, MA. She is a founding board member of the Newton Cultural Alliance since 2009. She was a 2014 participant of the CAELI Leadership Institute held by the National Guild for Community Arts Education and in 2018 earned the Guild’s Milestone Award. In 2023 she became a member of the Suzuki Training Committee.
