Every Child Can! logoEvery Child Can! an introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines.

Trainer Information

Katherine Wood

Katherine Wood, former director of Suzuki Talent Education at MacPhail Center for Music,  has been teaching Suzuki violin for more than 45 years.  Katherine is also an SAA registered teacher trainer and has regularly taught teachers and students at Suzuki workshops and institutes in the United States and Canada.

She completed her bachelor of music education at the University of Nebraska, and continued her studies at the University of West Virginia, receiving a master of arts in violin performance.  She did DMA work in music theory and violin at University of Missouri Kansas City.  Her Suzuki training was with Dr. Suzuki, Alice Joy Lewis, Sanford Reuning, Joan Reuning, John Kendall, Ronda Cole and others.  She has taught in the Denver Public Schools, at Salem College, was director of the Suzuki Talent Education Society of Calgary, AB, and taught music theory at Lawrence University Conservatory of Music.  Most recently she was the director of the Suzuki Talent Education at MacPhail Center of Music in Minneapolis, MN. She lives in Minneapolis with her husband and her cat MagnifiCat.
