Viola Technique and Pedagogy

Instructor: Julia Hardie,

Event Description

Suzuki viola teacher-trainer, Julia Hardie will teach this 10 hour enrichment course emphasizing both the differences and the commonalities in playing and teaching viola and violin. What differences in technique should be addressed from an early level and age, and what difference should wait to be addressed until the student approaches their full growth?

This course will be of interest to experienced violists and to violinists who have already established a viola program, or who are considering adding Suzuki viola to their studio or program. Additional topics include viola recruitment, instrument sizing, ways to include violas with other instruments, and much more. Julia will bring videos of lessons and performances of her home students.

Bring a viola to play and if possible also bring a violin.
