Violin Unit 1

Instructor: Rolando Freitag

Hosted by DePaul Community Music Division, this course involves a thorough study of Unit ONE of the Suzuki Violin School and is offered for experienced violin teachers, as well as college-level violin students, who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of the Suzuki method. Fifteen hours of studio observation are required during the course. Upon completion, training may be registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas.

Prerequisite course: Every Child Can!, or Filosofía

Audition: Violin Basic, or Violin Intermediate, or Violin Comprehensive, or Viola Basic, or Viola Intermediate, or Viola Comprehensive.

Deadline: All audition materials must be submitted by September 15 *
*A discounted Audition Fee applies if audition is submitted before July 31. If submitted within 8-weeks of the course start date, the regular audition fee will apply.

Rolando Freitag

Rolando Freitag is a registered Violin Teacher Trainer and serves on the Board of Directors at the Suzuki Association of the Americas. He is on the faculty at the Western Springs School of Talent Education and at DePaul University Community Music Division.

Mr. Freitag earned his M.M. in Violin Performance from Penn State University, and his B.M. in Violin Performance from Shenandoah Conservatory. In addition, he holds the Certificate of Achievement from the Suzuki Association of the Americas, an award given to teachers who demonstrate outstanding commitment to excellence in their teaching.

A native of Brazil, Mr. Freitag is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, an avid scuba diver, a US Sailing certified instructor, and a US Coast Guard licensed Captain
