Event Description

Every Child Can! logoEvery Child Can! an introductory course on the Suzuki philosophy and its application to education. For parents, teachers, prospective teachers and others, this course provides an inspiring, in-depth look at the Suzuki approach to teaching and learning. For teachers, ECC serves as the first course in the Suzuki Association of the Americas Teacher Development Program. To learn more, read about the ECC course and its guidelines.

This ECC course is offered for students in the long-term Suzuki Pedagogy Program at the Lamont School of Music. It is also open to anyone interested in learning more about Suzuki educational philosophy or anyone wanting to take this SAA course to fulfill their first step in Suzuki teacher development process. The course will take place on October 11 at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, 2344 E Iliff Ave, Denver CO 80210. Class hours are 9-12am and 1-4pm.

Trainer Information

Kathleen Spring

Kathleen Spring, a 1974 graduate of Walla Walla University, has also studied at the Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst, Vienna with Eduard Melkus and with Alan Bodman at Washington State University. She received a M.Mus. in Violin performance with James Maurer from the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver.
Honors include the ASTA Outstanding Studio Teacher Award for Washington State,1996. Con Brio, her Jr. Hi. string ensemble performed at the Washington MENC convention, 1998. Currently, the studio’s advanced performance group, Spring String, performs in the Denver Metro area and tours regionally and internationally.
A registered Teacher Trainer, Kathleen teaches workshops in North America and has guest taught in both Europe and Asia. She also teaches Suzuki Violin Pedagogy at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music and until July of 2021 maintained an active studio.
