Trainer Information
I lived in Japan from 1952 until I graduated High School in 1968. In 1958 or 9 I began violin lessons in Yokohama. On our books were “The Suzuki Violin Method.” My mother wrote to my aunt, Yvonne Tait, asking if she had heard of that method. Within months, my aunt saw the movie Mr. Mochizuki brought to the ASTA convention in that same year. I continued my studies, performing at the 1965 summer school student recital, the Mozart A major, 1st movement before the many American teachers visiting that summer. Between my first and 2nd year of college, I returned to Japan, this time to Matsumoto, to study teacher training with Suzuki Sensei. I came just before the Starr family left. I received my teacher certification and returned to Wheaton College to start teaching. I became a teacher trainer when the SAA first sought people for that job, and have been teaching and training teachers ever since in the western suburbs of Chicago, and at institues.
