Trainer Information

Carol Smith is the director of the Suzuki program at Blair School of Music, Vanderbilt University, and the former director of the String Development Program at SIUE. After receiving a master of arts in teaching from Washington University in St. Louis in 1975, Ms. Smith taught for three years in the Suzuki string program in a local public school system. Her Suzuki training began in 1974 under John Kendall and included a two-year assistantship at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, as well as study in Japan in 1981. She had a private studio in St. Louis for 20 years. Since 1977, she has been in demand as a clinician and as a teacher trainer at institutes and workshops both nationally and internationally. In recent years, she has taught in Canada, England, Sweden, Brazil, Australia, and 25 states in the US.
