Event Description

Student instruction in violin, viola, cello, bass, piano, voice, guitar. Tuition covers core curriculum of 4 classes daily: 1 masterclass, 1 group repertoire class, 1 musicianship or improvisation class, 1 enrichment class. Enrichment classes include, accompanying skills, bass, bluegrass for cello/bass, chamber music, chorus, composition, fiddling, Irish cello, Irish Ensemble, penny whistle, experienced penny whistle, piano styles exploration, practice mentoring, recording and podcasting, singing, or viola for violinists. Depending upon playing level some students are added to orchestra, piano, voice, flute, guitar, harp, and singing ensemble at no additional charge. Daily recitals, play-ins available. For chamber music, placement with a DVD or YouTube link is mailed with registration. The program includes daily student/faculty recitals. A daily music readiness program is also available for children ages 0 months-6 years who study an instrument at the pre-Twinkle or Twinkle level, or who have not yet started specific instrumental instruction. Parents: All of the daily discussion seminars for parents lead by faculty members, concerts/recitals, and observation of any student class is included in the registration fee paid by students. Parents can also register as a student on any of the above instruments, at the student rates, and any of the teacher enrichment courses, at the teacher rate. Non-parent observers may observe any part of the student courses. The Chamber Music of the Rockies for advanced string quartet Young Artists is in session at Beaver Creek at the same time as Suzuki Institute, June 18- July 1. Institute attendees are welcome to observe this program’s activities. Faculty guest artists will present concerts on June 21 and 28. Students in this program are assigned to 2 separate chamber ensembles and receive daily coachings, instrument masterclasses and chamber coaching seminar. The Adult Amateur component of Chamber Music of the Rockies takes place June 25—July 1.
