DESCRIPTION:Suzuki School of Newton hosts the Suzuki By The Green summer institute in its facility at 1615 Beacon Street\, Waban MA located on the MBTA public transportation green line at Waban Station.  Located a 5 minute walk from the station\, and in the heart of this small commercial center of the City of Newton\, SBTG gives a unique opportunity for Suzuki Piano Teachers and Students to mingle and learn with the emphasis solely on piano! \nThe first four days (June 23-26\, 2026) of Piano Unit 1 will be available online\, but please come in person if you are available! Also available will be “Teaching Piano Group Class” as an enrichment class offered the previous week. Times are 10-12\, 1-2:30 pm. \nThe second part of the course is Monday-Thursday\, July 6-9 in the morning 10-12\, and 1-3 pm and is ONLINE ONLY. \nAll repertoire of Suzuki Piano Book 1 must be memorized by the start of the course. A video recording of the entire book must be submitted prior to the start of classes. SUMMARY:Advanced Cello and Violin Programs
DESCRIPTION:Designed for the highly motivated student\, this two-week session provides a more intensive study routine than the Student Institute. Students must be at least at the level of violin Book 7 or cello Book 6. There is a limit of 24 violinists and 12 cellists. \nThe schedule includes the following: \n\nfive one-hour masterclass lessons\nfive half-hour piano coaching sessions\ndaily repertory class\ndaily technique class with emphasis on scales\, arpeggio series\, shifting\, double-stop studies\, various bow strokes\, and practice techniques\ndaily performance class\ndaily orchestra rehearsal\n\nStudents enrolled in the advanced repertoire program will be expected to practice between two and three hours each day\, depending on the age and level of the individual. Each student should prepare solo material that will form the basis for coaching sessions at the institute. New solo material may also be presented.

DESCRIPTION:This 15-hour course is designed for teachers who have completed Suzuki Violin Unit 1 training and are ready to deepen their understanding of the Suzuki method. Participants will focus on Book 2 repertoire\, including technical and musical development\, tone production\, and fostering strong foundational skills in students. \nThrough class discussions\, lesson analysis\, and hands-on activities\, teachers will: \n\nExplore teaching points for each piece in Suzuki Violin Book 2.\nRefine their ability to analyze and address common technical challenges.\nLearn to nurture student musicianship\, including phrasing\, tone quality\, and technique.\nDiscuss strategies for parent-teacher-student collaboration and fostering a positive learning environment.\n\nUnder Ruth’s guidance\, participants will refine their teaching strategies\, explore advanced concepts in Suzuki pedagogy\, and gain valuable insights into fostering technical and musical growth in their students. Ruth brings decades of experience as a violinist\, pedagogue\, and innovator in music education\, including the creation of the award-winning String Sprouts program.
