DESCRIPTION:Suzuki School of Newton hosts the Suzuki By The Green summer institute in its facility at 1615 Beacon Street\, Waban MA located on the MBTA public transportation green line at Waban Station.  Located a 5 minute walk from the station\, and in the heart of this small commercial center of the City of Newton\, SBTG gives a unique opportunity for Suzuki Piano Teachers and Students to mingle and learn with the emphasis solely on piano! \nThe first four days (June 23-26\, 2026) of Piano Unit 1 will be available online\, but please come in person if you are available! Also available will be “Teaching Piano Group Class” as an enrichment class offered the previous week. Times are 10-12\, 1-2:30 pm. \nThe second part of the course is Monday-Thursday\, July 6-9 in the morning 10-12\, and 1-3 pm and is ONLINE ONLY. \nAll repertoire of Suzuki Piano Book 1 must be memorized by the start of the course. SUMMARY:Advanced Cello and Violin Programs
DESCRIPTION:Designed for the highly motivated student\, this two-week session provides a more intensive study routine than the Student Institute. Students must be at least at the level of violin Book 7 or cello Book 6. There is a limit of 24 violinists and 12 cellists. \nThe schedule includes the following: \n\nfive one-hour masterclass lessons\nfive half-hour piano coaching sessions\ndaily repertory class\ndaily technique class with emphasis on scales\, arpeggio series\, shifting\, double-stop studies\, various bow strokes\, and practice techniques\ndaily performance class\ndaily orchestra rehearsal\n\nStudents enrolled in the advanced repertoire program will be expected to practice between two and three hours each day\, depending on the age and level of the individual. Each student should prepare solo material that will form the basis for coaching sessions at the institute. New solo material may also be presented.

DESCRIPTION:Teaching Strategies (Cello) \nClass will meet in person on 7/2 and 7/3 and online on 7/5. \n\nThis 10-hour pedagogy masterclass is designed to enhance teaching skills in a supportive\, trust-based environment. Participants present their own work for feedback\, gaining practical insights to improve effectiveness. \nIt is a prerequisite for Unit 3 training. \nEach participant will prepare and share video teaching segments at the level of their current pedagogy training. Using the SAA Pedagogy Descriptors\, participants will practice the skills of observation and assessment to celebrate teaching successes and explore ways to become more effective. 100% attendance and participation is required to receive course credit with the SAA. \n\nDiscussion Topics \n\n\nDeveloping the skills and knowledge needed to effectively teach preschoolers\, older beginners\, and transfer students(book 1-2)\nStrategic approaches to common challenges\, including power struggles\, motivation\, and introducing advanced techniques\nCreating an inclusive\, supportive environment where students can thrive and parents feel encouraged to actively engage\nParticipant contributions: each teacher will share 1–2 teaching videos (5–10 minutes each) for group reflection and feedback\nBuilt-in reflection time: a two-week break between Day 2 and Day 3 to apply insights and deepen learning\n\n\nVideo Recordings:\n\nEach participant brings 2 recordings of 6-10 minutes each. At least one of the recordings should be of an individual lesson.
