SUMMARY:Bach to Basics: A Pedagogical Journey Through the Works of J.S. Bach in the Suzuki Violin School
DESCRIPTION:Bach to Basics: \nA Pedagogical Journey Through the Works of J.S. Bach in the Suzuki Violin School\n\nJ.S. Bach is the most frequently featured composer in the Suzuki Violin School\, with his music appearing throughout the repertoire—from the first Minuets of Book 1 to the monumental works of Book 7\, and the iconic solo pieces just beyond. His music shapes how we teach sound\, structure\, and artistry. In Bach to Basics\, we use these familiar works as a framework to explore the evolving skills that define a player’s growth: resonance\, tone production\, balance\, bow control\, sensitivity\, phrasing\, and endurance.\n\nUsing Bach’s music as an organizing framework\, this 10-hour Enrichment Course traces the technical and musical development of the violinist across the Suzuki volumes and beyond. Co-presented by two SAA Teacher Trainers with a combined fifty years of experience guiding students from their very first lessons to the young artist level\, Bach to Basics examines how Bach’s works illuminate the full arc of a student’s growth—shaping their sound\, technique\, and musicianship at every stage.\n\nParticipants will consider stylistic elements of Bach’s music and deepen their understanding of sound production and musical structure while exploring how his works continue to refine both player and teacher. This course welcomes both Suzuki teachers who wish to discover how Bach’s music can clarify and inspire every aspect of violin teaching. Through study\, listening\, and discussion\, we’ll explore how returning to Bach brings us back to what is essential in our teaching: clarity\, beauty\, and purpose.\n\nGrounded in the Suzuki philosophy and enriched by decades of teaching experience\, this course offers insight\, connection\, and inspiration—bringing teachers\, quite literally\, Bach to Basics: to the heart of musicianship\, mastery\, and the enduring art of teaching.\n\n\nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership in order to enroll. Unit 1 is a prerequisite for this course. \nScroll down\, click “+”\, and then get tickets. You will pay the full course cost plus the SAA registration fee\, a total of $320. \nIf you have any trouble\, please write to info@suzukiassociation.org.

SUMMARY:Cello Unit 3
DESCRIPTION:Unit 3 marks a dramatic shift in technical expectations. The quantity and complexity of skills expand rapidly\, and this is often where gaps in foundational work begin to surface. When teaching is not carefully sequenced and thoughtfully guided\, students may struggle—not from a lack of ability\, but from a lack of clarity. \nAt this point\, the Suzuki triangle encounters stronger and more frequent waves of challenge. Without reinforced communication and support among students\, parent\, and teacher\, those waves can quickly turn into frustration rather than growth. \nAt the same time\, this unit offers an incredible opportunity. When students develop solid skills\, clarity\, and self-confidence during Book 3\, it can become one of the most impactful turning points in their overall cello technique and musical development. \nIn Unit 3\, students are suddenly asked to coordinate multiple new demands at once—more frequent shifting\, longer slurs\, more complex bow distribution\, string crossings\, clearer articulation\, and a wider variety of tone colors—often within the same piece. What once felt manageable in isolation must now function simultaneously. Without careful sequencing and shared understanding within the Suzuki triangle\, students may practice diligently yet still feel frustrated\, parents may feel unsure how to help\, and teachers may find themselves constantly troubleshooting instead of building forward momentum. \nIn this training\, we’ll focus on: \n\nBring clarity to Unit 3: Learn how to organize and sequence expanding techniques so students feel supported rather than overwhelmed.\nHelp students grow with confidence and joy: Turn moments of struggle into opportunities for resilience\, ease\, and steady progress.\nNurture a strong Suzuki triangle: Discover ways to strengthen communication and support among students\, parents\, and teachers during this pivotal stage.\n\nBecome the steady guide students need: Shape this challenging unit into a turning point that builds trust\, musical independence\, and long-term technical growth. \nYou must be logged in to your SAA account and have Active Membership to join the course roster below.  \nScroll down to the bottom of this page to the enrollment box\, click “+”\, then click “get tickets”. SUMMARY:Nurturing Studio Parents by Love
DESCRIPTION:Nurturing Suzuki Parents by Love\nA 10-hour enrichment course for Suzuki teachers of all instruments who have registered Unit 1 on their training profile \nEvery Suzuki teacher understands the magic of the Suzuki triangle—teacher\, parent\, and child working together to nurture a student’s ability and character. But have you ever considered that this triangle also holds the power to nurture parents themselves? Parents\, like children\, benefit from encouragement\, growth\, and the loving guidance that lies at the heart of the Suzuki philosophy. \nIn this brand-new course\, Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer Stacy Garner and veteran Suzuki Cello Teacher Brittany Gardner share insights from over four decades of combined experience to help you cultivate thriving\, supportive relationships with studio parents. Together\, we’ll explore the practical essentials such as scheduling\, policies\, and communication\, as well as the bigger picture: growth mindset\, relationship care\, managing difficult conversations and situations with studio parents\, and even ability development for parents. \nThrough stories\, strategies\, and lively discussion\, you’ll discover fresh ways to support parents on their own journey\, deepening their capacity to contribute to their child’s musical growth\, all while making your work as a teacher easier and more satisfying. \nThis is the first time this course is being offered—don’t miss the chance to join us in shaping this exciting new perspective in Suzuki teaching. Options are available for taking the course live\, or reviewing the course materials asychronously. Register today to be part of the conversation!
