Short Score - Your Key to the Suzuki Community
Newsletter October 2018FacebookTwitter

Happy Birthday, Dr. Suzuki!

A man who changed our lives.

He taught us that all children can become accomplished musicians with beautiful hearts. And he showed us how to do that.

Now we need to make sure that the next generation of teachers will have opportunities to be trained in the Suzuki method and become part of our extraordinary community of dedicated professionals.

Let’s light up the candles, add balloons with super sweet layers, and actively participate in the future of Suzuki Education!

Contributions will support the 2019 SAA Teacher Development Scholarships. Please make your donation by October 28.

Let’s all open our hearts to Dr. Suzuki’s commitment to music education by making a donation to the SAA Teacher Development Scholarship campaign today. As we do, let’s also celebrate our own work for the children of the world.

Thank you, Dr. Suzuki!

Opportunity for Advanced Suzuki Pianists

From UK Piano Teacher Stephen Power:

Taking place in three Cambridge (UK), institutions, ‘Robinson College Chapel’, ‘Murray Edwards College’, and ‘West Road Concert hall’, this year’s non-residential course presents some unique opportunities for advanced Suzuki pianists to concentrate on mainly 20th and 21st century music in a range of largely chamber music disciplines aiming to foster the pianist as rounded musician. Therefore students will, for example, work alongside young professional soloists (e.g. flute and piano, cello and piano, soprano and piano etc). Work on music by our French composer in residence Regis Campo, have chamber music masterclasses with distinguished Hungarian pianist Peter Nagy, and perhaps most uniquely work on pieces for piano and percussion, led by percussionist Richard Benjafield (head of the ‘Wind, Brass, and Percussion’ department at the ‘Guildhall school of Music and Drama’). A composition elective is also available where pianists can study with Regis Campo in masterclass, have their piece workshopped by the instrumental staff, and then performed in concert. For further details e-mail the course director Stephen Power on

If you are a current member of your local Affiliated Chapter, you get their logo on your SAA member page?

This is a great way to feature those who have access to the rich resources offered by the Chapters. Families who are looking for a new teacher, or colleagues researching peers can clearly see who is a member of a local chapter with the chapter logo prominently displayed on member’s pages.

Are you a member of an Affiliated Chapter but don’t see the logo on your member page? Contact your Chapter leadership to learn how. For further information about Chapter Affiliates, Click here.
