2013 Annual Fund

It was Dr. Suzuki’s dream that all children might enjoy the many benefits of developing a beautiful heart and fine character through the study of music. It is now up to Suzuki teachers throughout the Americas to keep the dream alive with our donations to the 2013 Fall Gift Campaign. Our membership dues remain as low as possible, but they only serve to sustain operations of the SAA at a minimum level. The types of projects that make the SAA recognizable as a driving force in music education are supported by your donations.

You have many options to put your donation to work where your heart leads:

• Invest in innovation. The Annual Fund supports such things as new programs, learning resources, teacher development, and parent education. Donate to the Annual Fund at https://suzukiassociation.org/giving/donate.

Twelfth International Research Symposium on Talent Education

Co-sponsored by the SAA and the American Suzuki institute, IRSTE focuses on the applications of research as it relates to the Suzuki Method and music teaching and learning. Established in 1990, the Symposia also offer the chance to learn some of the basic methods of conducting research in your own studio. Learn how to take an everyday situation, problem or question from your studio and distill it into a research question, how to locate and interpret other studies on the same issue, what is qualitative and quantitative research and how to know which method is best to use for your purpose, developing a survey, analyzing data and designing research projects doable in the music studio.

This year, the symposium will take place May 22-23 at the SAA conference in Minneapolis. For more information or to submit research papers, visit the SAA website.

Suzuki Principles in Action: Upcoming Courses

Suzuki Principles in Action (SPA) is a two day, cross-instrumental course designed to help teachers incorporate Suzuki’s principles effectively in their teaching. The course focuses on how to teach, not what to teach, allowing the sharing of ideas among all instrument areas. SPA is based on Dr. Suzuki’s belief that knowledge is an important first step, but “knowledge plus 10,000 times” is what produces ability. Click Here to read more about the SPA course.

Upcoming courses will be held in OK, NY, TX, MN, CA, and IN.
